A Beautiful Wedding Season: Floral Designs from Canberra’s Best Wedding Venues

As a florist in Canberra, I had the pleasure of working on 15 lovely weddings from January to March. It was a busy but exciting time, filled with lots of creativity and memorable moments.

In this blog, I’ll share some of the highlights of my wedding season, including the venues I worked at, the floral designs I created, and the colour palettes that made each wedding unique

I had the chance to work at some of the most well-known wedding venues in Canberra, each unique from the other. Here are a few of the venues where I provided floral arrangements:

  • The National Gallery of Australia: This venue offers a mix of art and elegance, making it perfect for weddings. I had the pleasure of designing floral arrangements for Rhiannon & Dale and Lucie & Henry at this stunning location. The space allowed for a variety of floral designs, from bold ceremony installations to subtle floral accents.

  • The Boat House: Located by Lake Burley Griffin, The Boat House provides a romantic setting for a lakeside wedding. I created beautiful floral designs for Bronte & Daniel, matching the venue’s natural beauty with a mix of soft and statement blooms.

  • Nick O'Leary Wines: With its modern feel and vineyard views, Nick O'Leary Wines was the perfect location for Alanna & Stojan's wedding. The floral designs reflected the venue’s contemporary interior, with a blend of greenery and vibrant blooms.

  • The Old Coach Stables: For couples looking for a vintage or rustic feel, The Old Coach Stables was an ideal choice. I had the pleasure of creating arrangements for Bec & Jason, with a combination of classic flowers and greenery to complement the venue’s historic atmosphere.

  • The Realm Hotel: The Realm Hotel is a modern venue with a touch of luxury. I created elegant floral designs for Vivek & Jessica and Raelle & Charlie, matching the contemporary style of the venue and adding a special touch to their big day.

  • The Marion: The Marion is a unique venue that provides an intimate setting. I created floral designs for Foffy & Dom and Jeremy & Erinn, focusing on modern, organic arrangements that matched the venue’s style.

  • Poachers Pantry: A beautiful and charming venue, Poachers Pantry provides a warm, country setting for weddings. I had the joy of designing floral arrangements for Maryham & Ben, enhancing the venue’s relaxed atmosphere with a mix of white seasonal blooms and modern floral designs.

Different Floral Colour Palettes

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is helping couples bring their vision to life through flowers. From soft pastels to deep burgundies, each wedding had its own special floral palette.

  • All Whites: Classic white flowers were perfect for couples wanting a timeless and elegant look. I used a mix of roses, delphinium, and orchids to create soft, romantic arrangements.

  • Pastels: Soft colours like pinks, lavender, and peach were popular this season. These shades created a calm and romantic feel, with flowers such as snap dragons, calla Lillies and dahlias.

  • Bright and bold Hues: Some couples wanted a bolder look, and deep reds, hot pinks and warm autumn colours worked well. I used rich blooms like dahlias, celosia, and anthuriums to create a dramatic effect.

  • Soft Pinks and Whites: A combination of soft pinks and whites was perfect for couples looking for a romantic touch. I used roses, chrysanthemums, and lisianthus to create a gentle, dreamy look.

Why Floral Design is Important for Your Wedding

Flowers are not just about decorating a venue; they help set the mood and make the day feel extra special. Whether you want a classic look or something more modern, the right flowers can really bring your wedding day to life. The floral designs I created this season not only matched the venues but also added a personal touch to each celebration.

Looking Forward

The wedding season may be over, but I’m already excited for what’s to come. If you’re planning your wedding in Canberra, I would love to help you create the perfect floral arrangements to suit your style and venue.

Let’s make your big day even more beautiful with flowers!
